What is SMARTIVERSE?
The project features the following elements
Interdisciplinary Integration: The project uniquely blends DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) approaches with critical environmental and digital literacy within the context of STE(A)M education.
The „Smart“ Use of Technology: A central concept is using technology „smartly“—meaningfully and reflectively—to foster critical thinking and inclusion. The project specifically focuses on a low-tech approach using the smartphone as the primary digital tool, as it is the most accessible device for creating equitable and inclusive learning environments.
Expected Major Results: The primary outcomes include an ECTS-recognized academic module for higher education institutions and OERs designed to be „teacher-approved“ and ready for immediate use in both formal and non-formal learning settings.

Online collaborative Session between SMARTIVERSE partners took place
On March 20th, educators and student teachers from SMARTIVERSE partner universities came together in a dynamic online setting for Collaborative Learning and Design Sessions as part of SMARTIVERSE Online Workshop 1 & 2.
These workshops focused on two core themes from the SMARTIVERSE Framework: Environmental Sustainability and Critical Digital Media Literacy – both essential lenses for shaping future-ready education. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions around how these themes can be meaningfully integrated into iSTEM teaching practices.
A key highlight of the sessions was the active involvement of student teachers, who explored and proposed innovative ideas for iSTEM lessons grounded in the two thematic perspectives. This collaborative design process encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and practical application of theoretical concepts.
Beyond lesson design, the workshops also created space for reflection and dialogue. Student teachers shared their teaching experiences from diverse educational contexts, offering valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities they encounter in classrooms across different regions.
Overall, SMARTIVERSE Online Workshop 1 & 2 fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and practices, reinforcing the importance of collaboration, sustainability, and critical media awareness in modern education.
